How to Use Bone Broth

Homemade Broth/Stock can be used as the liquid in making soups, stews, gravies, sauces, and reductions. It can also be used to sauté or roast vegetables.

In times of illness, you can just drink bone broth until you start feeling better as it supports the body but is very easy to digest so the body’s energy can go to healing. In cases of stomach bugs or vomiting, bone broth often calms the stomach very quickly and helps shorten the duration of the illness.

If you aren’t already, make bone broth a regular part of your kitchen routine. Its health boosting, inexpensive and easy… you can’t afford not to miss it!

Homemade bone broth is one of the most powerful superfoods on the planet. Whip up this recipe for a broth to help heal your gut, reverse aging, and cure the common cold.

Ingredients

·       Grass-fed beef boneschicken carcass or any mixture of bones from wild or pasture-raised, healthy animals
·       Purified water
·       1 tablespoon vinegar (apple cider or white)

Instructions

1.    Place bones into a large crock-pot. You only need a few bones to make broth, but the more you can fit in the crock-pot the better.
2.  Fill with filtered water to cover all the bones completely (it’s okay if there are a few bones poking out of the water a little).
3.  Add a splash (about 1 tablespoon) of vinegar.
4.  Set your crock-pot on low, and cook for at least 6 hours, preferably longer. Poultry bones can go as long as 24 hours, and beef bones can simmer for up to 48 hours.
5.  When the crock-pot is cool enough to handle, pour the broth through a sieve into a storage container or use tongs to pick the bones out.
6.  Season with salt and pepper to taste. Use within 5 - 7 days or freeze for later.

Notes

After cooling in the refrigerator, you may get a thick layer of fat on top of your broth.
